What is the Kroc Center, and what do we do?

At the Kroc we’re dedicated to transforming lives through recreation, health and wellness, education, cultural arts, and spiritual growth. We are part of The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay and its mission to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Development of the Kroc Centers nationwide was made possible by a combined capital endowment grant from a bequest to The Salvation Army by the late Mrs. Joan Kroc, widow of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc. Joan funded and supervised the building of the first Kroc Center in San Diego. She envisioned a center where children could go to be safe, be cared for, learn, and practice both the arts and sports.

The community of Green Bay was fortunate to be chosen as a site for a Kroc Center, and is one of only 26 centers across the country. Construction was completed and the Kroc Center opened it’s doors in August 2011 as a place of gathering and enrichment that houses an array of supportive programs like youth sports, fitness, swim lessons, youth and adult art classes, dance, youth camps, community events, and worship services.

The programs, as well as the building itself, have been designed to stimulate the mind, body and spirit, to provide hope, and to transform the life of each and every person who walks through our doors. The facility is comprised of an Aquatics Center with winding river, two-story slide, lap pool, and splash play area, a Fitness Center and classrooms for group exercise, a Gymnasium, an auditorium for worship and performing arts, and special event spaces. We offer many opportunities for learning and growth for our members and the community, including multi-week registration classes, drop-in classes, community events, Bible study and weekly worship service.
